45It is a shame that Marvel does not care about its older, loyal fans. Looking at the latest solicitations, I will be pre-ordering 31 DC Comics from my shop and 2 Marvel. My, how times have changed for me. These numbers used to be reversed (although I always bought about 5 or 6 DC comics). DC really seems to care about us fans, and provides consistent art and story. Sorry Tom, I wish it weren't so bro.By “older fans”, you clearly must mean people that started reading DC books two years ago, since everything before that is gone, dust in the wind—right?
You should always buy what you enjoy, regardless. But I think that seems a bit facile.
Tom Breevoort, why are you so awesome?
Also by consistent art does this anon mean like bland, linewide mediocrity? I loved Jim Lee’s art in the 90s but like some of the designs that came out of his big new52 shakeup (with the personal exceptions of Wonder Woman and Batman) were super boring to look at or not all that different save for some superfluous lines.
Marvel takes chances on their artists and their writers and while they don’t please everyone it encourages diversity in readers. Marvel has comic books that appeal to long time fans and new readers as well. They have comics that appeal to people of all colors and shapes and sizes and while they’re far from perfect they’re also not the ones putting a teenage Cassie Sandsmark in a glittery skin tight mess of sequins and injected silicone that would make a Bratz doll blush.
DC’s digging its way out in some spots. (The new Batgirl design looks great even if I’m not sold on the new book’s direction) but Marvel reigns supreme to me, at least where the big two are concerned. despondentparamour liked this
